FAQ

faq_right_side.jpgQ: Where can I see the Women in War Zones documentary?
We tour the documentary from state to state. You can come see the film at a screening near you! If you’d like a copy of your very own, you can make a minimum donation of $20 through our Store and we will send you a copy of the film, along with advocacy materials to help you host your own screening for your friends and family.

Q: Can I volunteer with Women in War Zones in the field?
Yes! We prefer volunteers to commit a minimum of one month in the field, but we do coordinate short-trips for groups of people interested in taking some of their spare time to do some good in the world :).

Q: Can I visit the Wamu Project if I am in the DRC?
We’d love it. If you’re interested in visiting us and seeing what we’re about you can email our Field Director: Dominique at dominique@womeninwarzones.org to schedule your visit.

Q: Can I donate my old clothes, shoes or books to Women in War Zones?
We encourage donations like this; however, shipping and transportation of materials make it difficult to get your gifts to Congo. We’d prefer if you donated books or make a small financial gift in lieu of shoes and clothes. You can mail your gifts to our Los Angeles’ office address.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes it is! We are a fiscally sponsored institution and donations to us, made out to ‘liberti’ and referenced to ‘Women in War Zones’ are tax deductible. We are working on getting our independent 501c3 status. We’re hoping to have this worked out by the end of 2011 and then you’ll be able to write checks out directly to our name!

Q: What can I do for Women in War Zones if I am based in the States?
Tons of stuff! Part of our mission is to engage America and the rest of the Western world, particularly youth, to stand up for the rights of women living in conflict-areas. Check out our Join The Movement pages to see how you can get involved!

Q: How I can raise funds to support you guys?
You can contact info@womeninwarzones.org if you’re interested in fundraising for us, and we can help equip you with media, information and promo materials.

A few things you can do are to:

1. Host a screening of the film
2. Participate in our Buckets of Change campaign
3. Tell 5 people about Women in War Zones
4. Just host a party and send us whatever you raise!

Q: Does my financial gift make a difference, even if it’s not a lot?
Most definitely. We pride ourselves on doing great work on a small budget. Even a donation of $10 can help us pay to keep our facilities clean. We appreciate any sort of support to our work; your gift shows us and shows the women that you care.

Q: Is Women in War Zones involved in any political agenda in Congo or elsewhere?
Definitely not. We remain neutral in all political forums and do not support, neither are we supported by any political parties, Stateside or in Congo. Our aim is to serve women who have suffered as a result of war and nothing more.

Q: I am not a Christian; can I get involved with Women in War Zones?
Although we are indeed a faith-based organization, we do not discriminate based on religious preference, neither with our beneficiaries nor our supporters. So yes, you can certainly get involved with us. We encourage everyone to join the cause.

Q: My church/school/community-group is really excited about this movement. What can we do?
That’s great! We love getting small groups on board with our mission. Change starts in communities! You can contact us to find out what your specific group can do to get involved.
