We have a vision for this movement. We want to see people in the farthest corners of the earth made aware of the injustices around the world. We want to provide opportunities for these people - this newly aware generation- to actually DO something about these injustices. And most importantly we want to bring healing, hope and an end to the atrocities that women deal with daily in embattled countries.
Where we WorkWell...War Zones
Women in War Zones seeks to implement our programs in war zones across the globe, primarily communities where there are clear and legitimate injustices occurring against women and children.
We’re right now working in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. Our Wamu Project operates in the Panzi community serving women in the South Kivu province. Our beneficiaries come from villages throughout the province searching for a safe-haven from the war in Bukavu.
Women in War Zones is a faith-based humanitarian organization. As many great leaders have done before us, like Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King Jr, our faith fuels our belief that injustice is unacceptable and we are in a place to DO something about it.
We see the Bible as a document that denounces injustice and beseeches us to do the right thing.
Hebrews 13:3 says “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them, and them who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body”.
We stand by this verse, as being our clear call in the Bible to serve others and to work tirelessly to bring justice and hope to those who are suffering needlessly around the world.
Here’s what you need to know about us:
1. Women in War Zones does not discriminate according to religion, neither in our employee recruitment process, nor in choosing our beneficiaries.
2. We do not proselytize in our humanitarian work, neither do we hinge offering our services on the religious conversion of the women we serve.
3. Our programs are for the betterment of entire communities, based simply on our desires to empower and protect women – no ulterior motive or message here.
4. Women in War Zones team-mates maintain a code of conduct that demands integrity, honesty and upstanding behavior.
